What is Athena?

Athena brings together tools that operate both in the sphere of artificial intelligence (AI) and 3D rendering.

The headline is that Athena will provide benefit to anyone working in the field of 3D or AI regardless of their industry, from military applications, to architectural rendering, to video games, to NASA planetary mapping, to movie and television animators. In short, if you work with 3D or AI then Athena will provide dramatic positive benefits for you!

3D

  • Athena AI reduces rendering workload by on average a factor of 10.
  • A unique rendering tool means that open world 3D can support massively more detail and content.
  • CGI TV/Movie animation costs are drastically reduced by much faster frame rendering.
  • Artists need to draw considerably less art!
  • A whole range of time and money saving features,
  • Open World generation is simplified and sped up considerably.

More moving objects and landscape detail than any other desktop, console and mobile based 3D system ever devised giving a photo-real open world system never before seen in the industry.

AI

  • A 3D world can be brought to life with the minimum of fuss benefiting hundreds of different industries.
  • Military planners can create realistic battle simulations for military training purposes.
  • A host of intelligent agents brings video games to life.
  • Movie/TV animators can create thousands of believable supporting characters for their animated worlds on screen – imagine busy market squares, or bustling space stations with everyone going about their business, all added to the animated TV series with fully automated tools that reduce the workload to a fraction!

Architects can use Athena AI to see and adjust people flow probabilities as they adjust their architectural designs.

EMMET AI

We are proud to be working with IBM and LEGO on the ground-breaking Emmet project, revolutionizing the photo to 3D model based industries!

Emmet is a perfect example of how Athena can spawn a host of innovative ideas - and use the Athena tech to take the solutions direct to business (in this case LEGO) OR direct to consumer for significant, additional revenue streams.

Emmet allows LEGO users to take a photo of an object using a standard smart phone camera, that is relevant to them, recognizes the object, turns the object into a 3D LEGO Model and has the building instructions reverse engineered for that object.  Here our Athena 3D technology comes together to create the 3D and LEGO models, whilst Athena AI generates high quality build instructions for any object that has been photographed and converted to 3D and LEGO brick on screen!

The 3D generated LEGO can be imported directly in to a host of applications. Want to drive a sports car in a LEGO racing game online? Simply take a photo, let Emmet convert it to digital LEGO and hey presto, add it to your race game! Want to build your own town online to enjoy with your friends in a huge online world, well simply take photos of your favourite buildings and Emmet will take care of importing those buildings in to your online environment, be it a tower block or the Golden Gate Bridge. All ready for you to use and explore!

Once the LEGO user builds the model out of their physical LEGO, Emmet rewards the user with a Digital Experience for their physical LEGO build.  In the instance shown below the LEGO user is rewarded with the satisfaction of an amazing physical LEGO build, and then also receives the digital gamification (of their physical LEGO build) by driving the car digitally on his video game console.

Emmet’s hyper-personalization of the LEGO experience turns every LEGO user in the world (with access to a smart device) into a fully fledged Master Builder….

Keira’s current big idea resolves LEGO’s biggest challenges; Keira works hard to retain the LEGO user base in the face of digital pressures over physical LEGO. He is also a developer of technologies championing LEGO’s desire to blur the lines between physical and digital LEGO play.

ROSIE DAVIES

Perhaps, the most important member of our team is our mascot Rosie Davies. Here at Blue Sock Studios we are proud to support Rosie in several ways and we welcome your support for her too!
Rosie was born with her legs stuck in a crossed position and a gap in her spine. She has Caudal Regression Syndrome and is one of just three people in the world to undergo life-saving and pioneering surgery. Despite having her legs amputated below the knee, it has not stopped her getting around.

Rosie, who describes herself as "a daredevil, nosey, and extra lucky", has great upper body strength. She uses her arms to push herself along on her skateboard and she can walk on her hands. Surgeons used some of Rosie's amputated leg bone to fill the gap in her spine between the bottom of her chest and the top of her pelvis. Special rods and plates were then used to secure her chest to her pelvis. As the bone healed it became a natural support.

However, whilst this surgery has undoubtedly saved the life of this tenacious little girl, it is not a panacea for all her issues. Her lower body remains paralyzed without sensation and Rosie will never walk. As she grows, she faces further major ongoing surgeries to stabilize her body.

Not that amputations have slowed Rosie, far from it! She can often be found outside of her home in the UK midlands town of Walsall on her skateboard and playing with her friends. Whilst others would be confined to a wheelchair, Rosie lives life to the full, on her hands or scooting on her skateboard. If you call her disabled to her face, you can expect a quizzical look and a flat denial from a girl who considers herself to have a very lucky life.

Yet, her care needs are ever present in a multitude of forms, from medical equipment, to specialist clothing (Rosie is not able to wear pants due to a stomach bag and medical appliances permanently attached on the outside of her body!) to just letting a little girl have fun, with a new teddy bear to take to bed or a day out to the zoo.

These needs are never going to go away, with ongoing medical treatments and major surgeries all being part and parcel of Rosie's life. The good news is that with your generous support the care is never going to go away either!

♥ YOU CAN HELP ♥

Check out Rosie!
